Not to be outdone by the legendary National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo), Defective Yeti is launching the Write A Short Story Week (WriAShorStorWe) for those people unable to manage the 1700 words a day over 30 days that the former requires. WriAShorStorWe involves completing a 5000 word story in five days (that's 1000 words a day for anyone who is not too hot at maths, I had a calculator handy). It's not exactly dawdling pace, but at least it's only five days. The rules are somewhat less strict, as you can start your story early if you so desire.

I have to say that I've been trying to get back to writing (there seems to be too many changes to websites and articles for sites to write to do any fictional stuff) and while 1000 words a day is hardly a leisurely pace, I might try and give this a go.
