Nasal Questions

Can someone please explain to me which element of evolution, which survival need, what human endeavour requires that nasal hair be tied stright to your tear duct (if you're a creationist, explain why the All Mighty -- whichever variety you believe in -- decided that was a good design decision)? I would like to say that I can't think of a good reason, and I have been pondering on it.

Oh, and I'd like to add, damn does it hurt extracting them.
