I am Your Vader

I was continuing with my strange habit of reading the Dutch subtitles on the TV, even though I can't read Dutch, when I spotted a familiar word: vader. Listening to the English being spoken, and knowing Dutch tends to be fairly close to English just with a funny accent, I figured it meant father (which I later confirmed).

This got me thinking. Assuming George Lucas knew this when he named Darth Vader, was it a subtle hint as to Vader's real place in the story for anyone to find?
