Bloodhound diary: speed record

31 Jul, 2009 | TdpSnippets

Yes, this crazy little island off the coast of Europe is aiming for greatness again. We're not content to sit on our laurels after smashing our own land speed record and being the first to break the sound barrier at sea level (confirmed that is, someone else claimed to have).

Oh no, we're at it again and they're not just going for slightly faster. The current record, set by Thrust SSC in 1997, is 763 mph. The new Bloodhound SSC is aiming to pass 1000 mph!

We may be small, but we are mighty.

The UK: Land speed record holders since 1983.
